Oban and Lorn

Oban is recognised as the "Gateway to the Isles" with ferry access to Mull, Iona, Tiree, Coll and Colonsay offering a variety of day trips. The most popular is the "Three Isles trip" taking in Mull, Iona (Iona Abbey where St. Columba brought Christianity to Scotland) finishing off with a trip to Staffa to view Fingal's Cave immortalised in Mendelssohn's overture.

If however you wish to have an Oban day just wander down the winding streets overlooking the bay buzzing with activity, then a walk up to the coliseum, McCaig's Tower high above the town with stunning views over the bay and beyond, finishing off with a visit to sample the delights of Oban Distillery.

Opposite Glenbervie on Dalriach Road is Oban Bowling Club and Atlantis Leisure, with Swimming, Tennis, Squash and Gymnasium all open to the public. There is a two screen cinema in the town which is a short walk away. Golf is available with a testing 18 hole course within a 5 minute drive and Sea Life Centre and Cruachan's famous "Hollow Mountain" Visitor Centre are all within a 15 mile radius of Oban.
